A Football Life, Week 8

One team can be eliminated from playoff contention this weekend, but every other team is still very much in the hunt with five weeks to play. Ten out of twelve teams are between 3-5 and 5-3.

Cory led the league in scoring for the first time in the league’s two-year history with 140.1 points, thanks in part to huge performances by Emmanuel Sanders and Golden Tate.

Anthony Battle won the game of the week and, in doing so, swept his season series with his biggest division threat, Sean Kennedy. They are now tied atop the NFC West but with the season sweep, all Battle has to do is keep pace with Kennedy the rest of the way and stay ahead of William Massimini.

The six winning teams in Week 8 averaged 122.2 points, nearly 28 points more than last week and good for the fourth highest total in league history. The losing teams averaged 94.6 points, up almost 10 points from last week and good for the best losing week in league history.

Cory has four players place among the top five scorers at their respective positions. Nobody else had more than two.

Game of the Week: Anthony Battle at Sean Kennedy

Thanks to some pretty dismal performances from Sean’s team, Anthony breezed to an easy win and his second victory over his division rival this season. Anthony now own the head-to-head tiebreaker against Sean, which trumps all other tiebreakers.
