A Football Life, Week 1

Evan Ash started the season well, but has a tough Week 2 test
against an equally-good division rival.
The first week of fantasy football is in the books and there was plenty of excitement in my league this weekend.

It’s a rare occurrence in a head-to-head league for the six winners to also be the league’s six leading scorers, but that is just what we had in the AFL this week.

Congratulations to the Balt/Atl Engineers, managed by the Football Freaks’ #1 fan, Evan Ash. His group scored a league-leading 149.9 points. Peyton Manning set the tone for his team with 47.6 points on Thursday night. Though his opponent was one of two losing teams to top 100 points, there was no coming back from that record-setting evening.

All six designated “home” teams won their matchups despite home-field advantage not being used in our league. They averaged 129 points while their opponents averaged 94.2 points, with the lowest score being 82.2.

Looking ahead to week 2, there will be three games featuring undefeated teams facing off and three games featuring winless teams. Evan Ash and Cory Puffett face off in a battle of 1-0 division rivals who have the two highest point totals so far.

Game of the Week: Brandon S. at Danny H.

Despite not having a single player score 20+ points, and facing an opponent with three such players, Danny H. rode a balanced output to a 107.5-95.1 victory over Brandon S.
