The Andrew Luck era began last year, but Jim Irsay got some confirmation this weekend that he made the right decision. |

“Just another Sunday Night Football game” is not how
Indianapolis approached their matchup with the Denver Broncos this week. The
Broncos were already being heralded as a potential 19-0 team.
But Denver’s shoddy defensive play finally caught up to them
and the Colts’ defense got as close to a shutout against Denver’s high octane
offense as any team has so far this season.
Peyton Manning still got his, tossing three touchdowns, but
it was the third straight game he threw an interception after throwing none in
his first four outings.
Usually, giving up 33 points is not considered a good
performance. But Indianapolis held the Broncos to a season-low in points; they shut
down Knowshon Moreno who had looked really good coming into this week; and the
front seven generated a pass rush unlike anything Manning has seen this season.
The Broncos offense is still not one to be underestimated,
but the Colts provided a blueprint for future Denver opponents to use to give
themselves a chance. My using almost solely man coverage, Indianapolis showed
that professional football still comes down to fundamentals.
Final Score:
Denver Broncos – 33
Indianapolis Colts – 39
