Week 3 was the last non-bye week until the final week of
AFL’s final regular season and the next nine weeks will showcase each team’s
depth.
Nolan Soter’s Los
Pollos Hermanos put up a league-leading 118.4 points in a victory over division
rival Evan Ash. Marshawn Lynch led his team in scoring, helping Nolan record
his first victory as a member of the league despite being a 17.8-point underdog
based on ESPN’s projections.
The six winning teams from Week 3 averaged 104.2 points, down
almost two points from last week and five points from Week 1. The six losing
teams averaged a dismal 65.4 points, down 9 points from last week and 22 points
from Week 1.
Four teams put three players on this week’s scoring leaders
list, but nobody managed four players. Danny Hatcher, Cory Puffett, Brandon
Saunders and Nolan Soter each had three top-5 players at their positions. Only
Nolan managed two in one category, though, with both Pierre Garçon and Victor
Cruz as top five starting receivers in Week 3.
The waiver wire play of the week goes to Danny Hatcher, who
picked up the New Orleans Saints defense despite two very bad games to start
the fantasy season. The Saints gave Danny 9 points to aid in his blowout win
over previously unbeaten William Battle.

Game of the Week: Cory
Puffett at Saswat Misra
Each team had one player in Sunday’s second time slot, but
this game was out of reach by the time the 1:00 games ended. You could blame
the loss on Frank Gore and Randall Cobb, but the 39.8-point victory by Cory
shows that Saswat would’ve needed a lot more than just good games from those
two to pull it out.
