Saswat Misra
We’re less than 24 hours away from the start of the 2014
playoffs. Cory already posted his picks, so here are mine.
Kansas City Chiefs at Indianapolis
Colts
I believe the Chiefs are ultimately the better team. They
might not have beaten many high-profile opponents, but they are consistent. You
never know what you’re going to get out of the Colts. Sometimes they play like
Super Bowl contenders. Other times they play like they don’t deserve to be in
the postseason.
For me, consistency will be the deciding factor as I see Kansas
City winning. Expect the biggest play of the game to be a great defensive
sequence from the Chiefs.
Saswat’s Pick: Chiefs
beat Colts, 23-17
New Orleans Saints at Philadelphia
Eagles
New Orleans really struggles on the road, especially when
the weather is bad. No precipitation, but it will be very cold Saturday night
in Philly. I think this will be a very big disadvantage for New Orleans.
Foles has proved he can play well in important games, but I
think the night will belong to LeSean McCoy.
Saswat’s Pick: Eagles
beat Saints, 31-21
San Diego Chargers at Cincinnati
Bengals
This Bengals team is somewhat inconsistent. But when they
play well, they look really, really good. The offensive clicks on all cylinders
and the defense does its job.
The Chargers can air it out with Rivers and his rejuvenated
season, but I still don’t trust the Chargers defense on the road. The Bengals
are ready to take the next step.
Saswat’s Pick: Bengals
beat Chargers, 38-31
San Francisco 49ers at
Green Bay Packers
Like the Saturday night game, the weather will once again be
a factor. The coldest air in 18 years is about to descent in the Green Bay area
and the wind chills will be unbearable. The 49ers are not equipped to play in
these conditions. Aaron Rodgers and company can.
Ultimately, I think San Francisco is the better team, but
due to the extreme cold I will take the Packers.
Saswat’s Pick: Packers
beat 49ers, 32-24
